World of Warcraft Tank

Centre Piece of Raiding Party

A world of warcraft tank is a character whose primary role is to absorb damage and prevent others from being attacked. Tank is "meatshields", so to speak, putting himself between the mobs and the more vulnerable party members. The tank assumes the aggro of the mobs and tries to keep them off other group mates. With everyone nuking the same target (directed by the main assist), the mobs go down faster and there is less damage done to the group.

There are exactly three combination of class and spec which can truly be considered main tank: Protection Warrior, Feral Druid and Protection Paladin.

The Protection Warrior has been the most viable and sought after world of warcraft tank for raiding. The protection warrior has had many rivals, all vying for the spot of main tank in the raiding aspect of the game. Both feral druids and protection paladins offer a wonderful and unique utility to raiding however neither surpasses the protection warrior in its ability to tank a boss one on one. The protection warriors' abilities, balanced damage mitigation, and threat generation make it best suited for tanking a boss in a raid. This simple fact has been proven time and time again over the years by thousands of different raiding guilds testing these other classes out in comparison to a protection warrior.

So you've decided to build a Warrior Tank?

Many players want the opportunity to be the center piece of their raiding party, taking massive hits in succession as a team of 40 rails away at an end-game boss behind them. But, if you do not know how to properly utilize your abilities and strengths, you are not going to get very far.

In the end, if you are want be a world of warcraft tank in a Raiding party, you need to know what the basics of your class are - not just how to tank in general, but how to use your class's tanking abilities in succession, managing threat, dealing damage, and most of all staying alive long enough to allow your party the chance to kill the enemy. A good class guide for your tank of choice will go a long way in helping you reach this goal.
